A young journalist from Calcutta is tasked with writing a personal story about his own middle-class community within two days. With his initial enthusiasm, he approaches every situation with a critical eye, but struggles to create a cohesive report. As frustration mounts, he tries to influence events, but to no avail. In a state of confusion, he has a vivid dream filled with anger and disdain for the bourgeoisie. He eventually meets with the editor again and reaches a compromise.
