Rube, a seven-spotted ladybug, lives in a laboratory and dreams of reaching Golden Canyon, a legendary bug utopia. He helps dragonfly Master Water escape from wasp guards and decides to travel together, but Master Water abandons him. Rube rescues Master Water from a frog's tongue and they eventually reach Golden Canyon, only to find it's a construction site. They are captured by a human boy and his pet lizard, but Rube rescues them again. The wasp queen, who had been searching for Master Water, joins forces with Rube and the bugs to defeat the lizard and rebuild their new home.
