Bill Barker, a notorious liar, flees to the west and convinces the people of Martinez to elect him as their Mayor and Judge. As he navigates his new role, he must contend with the outlaw Tonto Kid and the mischievous McQuinn Brothers, all while keeping a secret: his daughter Nita Mosby believes her father is dead.
