Two friends, Terry and Bob, embark on a disastrous caravan holiday with their girlfriends. After getting separated, they're accused of infidelity and decide to skip the girls for a solo hotel stay at Whitley Bay. They have a wild time with the landlady and her daughter, but things get out of hand and they make a hasty exit. Terry considers emigrating, but ultimately changes his mind and leaves Bob behind on his ship, headed for Bahrain.

The 2000 film is a sequel to the 1973 British TV series "Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?", sharing its title with the earlier series.
