A stunting circus clown falls deeply in love with Dorothy Langdon, who doesn't return his affections. His passion for her leads to a decline in his performance, causing him to become a hobo. Eventually, Dorothy gets him a job as a salesman with her father's company, where he proves to be a skilled and charismatic salesperson. He's then tasked with overseeing the lighting for an amusement park project supervised by Dorothy, but their success is threatened by her cad fiancé, who seeks to sabotage the project for personal gain.
