Hercules returns from his travels to find his people and loved ones brutally slaughtered by the king of Ecalia. Consumed by grief and rage, he sets out to exact revenge on the monarch. However, upon arriving in Ecalia, he discovers that the king is dead and the queen, Dianira, now reigns. Despite being drawn to her, Hercules learns that she is betrothed to Acheloo, adding a complex layer to his quest for vengeance as he navigates treacherous alliances, conspiracies, and monstrous foes.
