The Moonlighter background

The Moonlighter

A former cattle herder turned outlaw finds solace from a ruthless gang by rekindling a passionate romance with a former flame.

In the early 1900s, a man named Wes is arrested for cattle rustling and awaits trial in a small town. However, when a lynch mob breaks into the jail and hangs a hobo by mistake, thinking it's Wes, he sees an opportunity for revenge. Wes raids the ranches of the mob members, burning their property and getting into gunfights with them. He eventually returns home, wounded, and reconnects with his family and his childhood sweetheart, Rela. Despite still being in love with her, Rela has moved on and is engaged to Wes' brother, Tom. When Tom loses his job, Wes convinces him to join him in a bank robbery, and they're joined by an outlaw named Cole. However, the robbery goes awry, and the trio flees to a mountain hideout, pursued by the sheriff's posse. In a surprise twist, Rela joins the posse and must decide whether to bring the men she loves to justice or protect them.
