Roman Coleman, a long-term inmate, is assigned to outdoor maintenance at a Nevada correctional facility. He's drawn to the horses and is reassigned to a rehabilitation program training wild mustangs. Coleman names his spirited mustang Marquis and forms a bond with him, reflecting his own struggles with reintegration amidst issues with prison administration, fellow inmates, and his pregnant daughter who visits to resolve administrative issues.
