The Night Is Young background

The Night Is Young

In a royal decree, Emperor Franz Josef forces his nephew Archduke Paul Gustave to marry Princess Matilda, a woman he's never met, while Gustl secretly longs for the charming Hungarian Countess.

In this romantic comedy, a young Archduke named Gustl must marry a princess, but he's secretly in love with a Hungarian countess. To appease his uncle, Gustl pretends to be smitten with a ballerina named Lisl, who's considered the worst dancer in the company. Lisl agrees to be Gustl's front, but only if he produces a ballet for her fiancé, the piano accompanist Toni. As they live together, Lisl and Gustl have fun exploring each other's worlds, but Lisl eventually realizes her true feelings. Can their unlikely union work despite their vastly different social classes and the disapproval of the royal house?
