A man, Arthur Harris, returns home to find his wife leaving him, leading to a devastating discovery. In a state of despair, he becomes drunk and attempts to take his own life. Despite setbacks, he's determined to electrocute himself with a lamp when an unexpected visitor arrives. The stranger, dressed in a leather coat, offers to complete odd jobs, and Arthur surprisingly hires him to end his life. However, just as his wife returns, the hired killer remains intent on completing the task.
