During World War II, a group of Spanish Civil War veterans were imprisoned at Mauthausen camp, forced to work as free labor for the Nazis. Among them was Francesc Boix, a young photographer who worked for the camp's warden, Paul Ricken. Boix's daily life was filled with taking photos, talking to fellow inmates, and documenting the dead. However, his life changed when he discovered an amateur radio that revealed the Third Reich's loss in the Battle of Stalingrad. Fearing the Nazis would destroy evidence of their atrocities, Boix became obsessed with preserving his photos, which proved the horrors committed by SS officers. After a failed escape attempt, Boix planned a second escape to save the photos and survive to tell the truth to the world.
