A young boy is forced to part with his loyal donkey, Small One, and takes him to town to sell him. Despite the tanner being the only buyer, Small One leads his master back to the shop, willing to give his life. Miraculously, they find a new home with Joseph, who buys Small One to carry Mary to Bethlehem.
