A jewel thief is on the run, and two detectives are hot on her trail. They follow a suspect into a hat store, where she tries on several hats and slips a valuable diamond ring into one of them. The clerk is asked to deliver the hat to her home, where he meets her maid, Odette. Chaos ensues when Odette gets injured, and the clerk tries to revive her with too much whiskey, leading to a series of comedic misunderstandings and mishaps involving the thief, the clerk, the maid, and a parrot.
