Two young boys in a bombed-out London neighborhood suffer a devastating loss when one of them falls to his death. The surviving boy, Frankie, is consumed by guilt over his friend's passing. Meanwhile, Len, a thief who has just committed a fatal robbery, discovers the accident and manipulates Frankie into stealing from his parents to fund his own escape.
