Tibetan Refugee background

Tibetan Refugee

A poignant documentary showcases the heartfelt accounts of Tibetan refugees in Dharamsala, as they open up about their lives, struggles, and triumphs in candid interviews.

Tibetan refugees, numbering 130,000 worldwide, with 80,000 living in India, flee their country to escape oppression and seek refuge in Dharamsala, the seat of the Tibetan government in exile and spiritual center of the Dalai Lama. Many children and monks undertake perilous journeys through the Himalayas, with some losing limbs to frostbite, to reach Dharamsala. Despite the risks, the refugees risk everything to escape torture, humiliation, and lack of education and religious freedom under Chinese rule.
