In 1965 New York City, a curious young gay man named Thomas takes a walk on the wild side to a local bath house on St. Mark's Place, a secret meeting spot for the gay community. There, he meets Mr. Jaffee, a closeted and married older man who's new to the scene. Despite their differences, they engage in a deep and philosophical discussion about marriage, sexuality, and social taboos, forming an intense emotional connection.
