In a Brooklyn bar, a seasoned bookie named Vinnie has spent 30 years running his operation. However, as times change, the higher-ups demand a bigger profit, and Vinnie is deemed expendable. He's tasked with mentoring a hot-headed young mobster, Tony, the nephew of a local mobster, to teach him the ropes and show him how to collect debts. But Vinnie soon discovers that Tony has no intention of following in his footsteps, instead choosing to disregard Vinnie's guidance and take a bet from an unemployed drunk. When the loser's wife is forced to pay the debt with her own possessions, tensions escalate, and Vinnie must decide whether to fight for his livelihood or maintain his good name.
