War Witch

In a Sub-Saharan African setting, a young girl named Komona recounts her harrowing experiences to her unborn child, including her kidnapping by rebels and forced involvement in a bloody civil war. As she develops a valuable intuition about the enemy's presence, she's elevated to a witch and favored by the rebel leader. But this special status is short-lived in a world where superstition and brutality reign. Haunted by the ghosts of war dead, Komona finds an opportunity to desert with the help of a new friend. However, escaping her brutal past proves challenging, with physical and spiritual consequences following her everywhere.
