In the midst of the Civil War, a family and war prisoners take to the skies in a hot air balloon, seeking refuge on a remote island. However, they soon discover the island is home to gigantic insects and pirates on the hunt for gold. Despite the existence of a safe haven, they choose to fend for themselves and face the challenges of their new environment.
