Bella Channing and her grandmother Lily run a dog rescue center, Bella's Rescue, for retired police and military dogs. When their main sponsor, Stockard's Pet Foods, is sold, the new owner claims the rescue is on their property, threatening eviction. Lily and Bella search for documents to prove ownership, but all attempts fail. Bella turns to JR, the son of the Stockard estate, for help. JR, a military veteran, agrees to assist and meets Indie, a retired military dog. As JR and Indie bond, JR also develops feelings for Bella, but she's hesitant to get attached due to his impending deployment to Iraq.
