In 1634, French Jesuit priest Father Laforgue embarks on a perilous 1,500-mile canoe journey to discover the fate of a missionary settlement meant to convert the Huron to Christianity. Accompanied by a non-Jesuit laborer, Daniel, and an Algonquin tribe acting as guides, Laforgue faces treacherous terrain and cultural barriers.
