In 1743, Prince Charles Edward Stuart, also known as Bonnie Prince Charlie, is sent to Scotland with French support to reclaim the throne from King George II for the House of Stuart. He lands on a Scottish shore with a warship and seven companions, and sets out to rally Scottish nobles and chieftains to his cause. Despite initial doubts, Bonnie Prince Charlie persuades most Scottish nobles to join him in a rebellion against the English, except for one dissenting nobleman who predicts the rebellion will fail without significant French military support. Undeterred, Bonnie Prince Charlie raises his royal standard and claims the crowns of England, Scotland, and Ireland, marking the beginning of the Jacobite Rebellion.
