A detective is investigating a child-trafficking ring in a small town in central China. A young policeman is shot and wounded while investigating a suspect, who later turns up dead. A factory worker's daughter is kidnapped along with two other children, and the worker's ex-husband is linked to the case. The detective and his sidekick question the worker, who then takes a room at the hotel they were investigating and sends a message to an unknown party, leading the detective to suspect she may be involved with the traffickers.
