A seasoned gambler named Wylie is challenged to use his cunning to catch a master thief known as "The Poet", who is pulling off daring stagecoach robberies and stumping the authorities, while the sheriff's plea puts him at a crossroads.

A mysterious outlaw known as "The Poet" is robbing Wells Fargo stages, leaving a trail of mystery and intrigue. When a detective from the insurance company offers a choice between returning to a questionable trial in Carson City or tracking down the elusive outlaw, Wylie, a gambler, decides to take on the challenge. He joins a stagecoach ride to Cheyenne, accompanied by Ann and Emily, only to discover that the Sundance gang is also on the hunt for "The Poet". As Wylie becomes embroiled in the investigation, he finds himself impersonating the outlaw, but his biggest surprise comes when he learns that Ann is actually the wife of the man he's trying to capture.
