Mike, a young farmhand, works alongside his close friend Dan on a small California farm. Mike is smitten with Dan, who seems to reciprocate his feelings. However, Dan is restless and longs to leave the farm for a big city, possibly with Mike. Their daily routine is disrupted when they befriend Gary, a boy from a nearby farm, who is fleeing his abusive home life. When a misinterpreted incident of skinny-dipping sparks a misunderstanding, the young farmhands become unjustly suspected of wrongdoing in their small town.
