Jimmy Brody, a retired middleweight champion, returns to the ring to raise money for his struggling book publishing business with his fiancée's father. He agrees to fight the current titleholder, "Killer" Bronski, with the help of his old manager and a big-shot gambler who has ulterior motives. The gambler wants to cash in on Bronski's victory, but the reporter who's investigating him ends up getting attacked.
