A struggling actress, Laurine Lynne, confronts a turning point in her Hollywood career as she's unable to secure new roles and her studio, Associated, looms over the possibility of terminating her contract.

Laurine Lynne, a Hollywood actress, is struggling to maintain her career as she's losing roles to her contemporaries. In an attempt to revive her career, she places a discreet ad looking to marry someone of royalty in a marriage of convenience. To her surprise, the response comes from a hotel waiter, Prince Rupert Heinrich Franz Von Rentzau, who is equally surprised by her identity. As they navigate their arranged marriage, Laurine learns that the Prince has had a series of odd jobs since the war and is working solely for money. Despite their initial platonic agreement, they both develop feelings for each other, leading to a series of misadventures as they try to hide their emotions.
