A sophisticated couple from New York City, Mabel and Arnold, get stranded in rural Tennessee during their "See American First" tour. They're helped by Marty Robbins and his musicians, who invite them to the Grand Ole Opry. Arnold becomes fascinated with country music and joins Marty's crew, eventually becoming the manager of Jose Gonzales-Gonzales, a would-be show producer. Together, they produce a country-western music show.
