Great Day in the Morning background

Great Day in the Morning

A charismatic stranger takes over a Denver hotel-saloon, only to find his newfound riches caught in a tangled web of alliances and rivalries between Union supporters, Southern gold miners, and two vying suitors, all while a young orphan's fate becomes entwined with his.

Owen Pentecost, a Southerner, wins a Denver hotel in a card game and becomes embroiled in relationships with two women, one a hotel fixture and the other a newcomer from the East Coast. As the Civil War breaks out, Owen faces difficult decisions as a minority in a strongly Unionist town.
