In the film Kaashi, a young man named Kaashi lives with his family in Benaras, where they perform final rituals for the deceased. Kaashi is possessive of his sister Ganga, who disappears after befriending a journalist named Devina. Kaashi and Devina team up to find Ganga, but she is eventually found dead. Kaashi becomes a suspect and is arrested for her murder, but Devina believes he is innocent and that someone else must have killed her.
