Kentucky Jubilee background

Kentucky Jubilee

A charismatic outsider takes over a small town's holiday festivities, kidnapping a celebrated filmmaker in the process, in a bid to find inspiration and fresh talent for a movie about rural life.

In this movie, a Hollywood film director is taken to Hickory, Kentucky to find inspiration for a hillbilly film, but he's kidnapped by henchmen working for a wealthy city dweller who's taken over the town's annual festival. The director is joined by a trade-paper reporter who uncovers a scheme to steal the town's funds and bank money. Along the way, Jerry Colonna appears as a hired emcee who gets kidnapped as well, amidst a series of acts from Florida.
