Music teacher Hannah Adams returns to her hometown of Seaside, where she's reunited with her former piano teacher, Margaret McQueen, who now lives next door with her son, Gavin, and his daughter Parker. Gavin, a widowed woodworker, has moved back to Seaside with his daughter after his wife's passing, and they're preparing to participate in the town's kite festival. As Hannah and Gavin work together to build a custom table for Hannah's sister's anniversary, they bond and help each other with their personal struggles. Meanwhile, Hannah finds herself falling for Gavin, but she may be misreading the signs as his high school sweetheart, lawyer Katie Longhorn, reappears in his life.
