A British spy, A.J. Fothergill, is sent to Russia in 1913, posing as a Russian, to gather intel on the revolutionary movement. He's later imprisoned in Siberia, mistakenly identified as a revolutionary, until the 1917 uprisings. During the Russian Civil War, he attempts to escape with the beautiful Countess Alexandra.
