A disillusioned 13-year-old boy, Jack Carlisle, runs away from home after his father's departure and his mother's constant absence due to work. As Jack delves into the book, he is transported to the world within, where he embarks on thrilling escapades alongside Prince Morgan, while evading the treacherous Blackbeard the Pirate. During his journey, he meets a beautiful mermaid named Lily, whom he falls deeply in love with, and is saved by her heroic actions.
