A retired soccer coach finds a new sense of purpose at a Catholic orphanage, guiding a team of gifted young athletes and witnessing their growth both on and off the pitch.

Manny, a soccer coach, is fired from his job at a prestigious school due to his lack of fit with the institution. He finds a new opportunity at a Catholic orphanage, where he forms a team with the help of a talented player, Pepe, who is revealed to be a girl. Pepe's true identity is a secret, as she was forced to disguise herself as a boy to escape an abusive foster home. Meanwhile, Manny's past catches up with him in the form of a gambling debt, and the orphans discover his financial struggles. To pay off his debt, they challenge Manny to a high-stakes soccer game, with the outcome determining whether the debt will be forgiven.
