Two struggling performers, Frankie Foster and Stanley Benson, win an amateur talent contest and attempt to turn their hobby into a career. Despite landing some professional gigs, they struggle to gain popularity. In search of a financial boost, Frankie travels to Washington D.C. to ask her wealthy father for help. Along the way, she is mistaken for the wife of famous pilot Johnny Pearson and finds herself in his hotel suite, where she must pretend to be his spouse. As they meet, romantic feelings begin to develop.
