In the late 19th century South Pacific, Bully Hayes, a self-proclaimed pirate with morals, faces arrest for selling arms to the enemy, punishable by hanging. As he awaits his fate, he recounts his adventures, including a fateful voyage transporting a missionary and his fiancée to their South Pacific mission. When the mission is massacred, the missionary, Nathaniel, believes Bully is responsible for his fiancée's disappearance. Bully convinces Nathaniel that his former partner, Ben Pease, is the true culprit, and they join forces to locate Ben and Sophie. They discover Ben is working with the Germans to set up a South Pacific outpost and plan to use Sophie as a trading item. Nate and Bully must save Sophie before she's sacrificed, defeating Ben, the Germans, and the island's natives. The outcome will have a lasting impact as Bully ultimately faces the hangman's noose.
