A former New York City stock broker, Richmond Hobson, has left his privileged life to become a cowboy in northern British Columbia. He runs a small ranch with his partner Panhandle Phillips, but faces challenges from a local banker who wants to buy the land cheaply. Rich starts having dreams about a beautiful blond woman, which becomes reality when he meets Gloria McIntosh, an aspiring debutante from Vancouver. They impulsively get married, and Rich is forced to hire inexperienced boys and use Gloria as a cowgirl to survive financially. However, one of the new hands, Kit, has a secret, and another, Robert McDaniels, is a black man with a mysterious past.
