Our Betters background

Our Betters

The aristocracy's veneer of moral superiority is stripped away, exposing their own vulnerabilities and shortcomings, and surprisingly, revealing a sense of familiarity with the common folk.

Pearl Saunders, an American heiress, marries Lord George Grayston, but their marriage is marked by infidelity. Despite being accepted by British society, Pearl's behavior creates scandals, including wearing black to a royal event. She also manipulates her younger sister, Bessie, into pursuing a relationship with Lord Harry Bleane, against Bessie's true feelings for Fleming Harvey.
