Paper Moon Affair

A woman, left by her wealthy husband, finds comfort in the company of two rough-around-the-edges locals in a remote Pacific Northwest town.

A wealthy couple, he Chinese and she Japanese, seek a respite in the isolated town of Paper Moon Bay, Canada. Their emotionally distant marriage is strained due to his infidelity, which she is aware of. To cope, she practices origami. When he abandons her, she feels lost and wants to return to Tokyo, but finds it difficult to leave. The townspeople, unfamiliar with her culture, see her as an outsider. Vern, the local police officer, and 19-year-old Hart are drawn to her, but for different reasons. Vern is in an unsatisfying marriage and seeks a sexual connection with Keiko, while Hart wants to escape his repressive life and form a deeper bond with her.
