French journalist Matrac, who opposed the Munich Pact, is framed for murder and sent to Devil's Island. He and four others escape, only to find themselves on a ship bound for Marseilles when France surrenders. The group must then fend off Major Duval, a fascist sympathizer, who attempts to take control of the ship for Vichy.
