In 1930s Shanghai, a young actress named Man is rising to fame in the entertainment industry, causing concern for a seasoned actress named Poon who sees her as a rival. Meanwhile, a film student named Koo is determined to pursue his dream of filmmaking, despite his father's disapproval. Koo writes a screenplay for a romantic horror film starring Man and sets the location at the rumored haunted Palace Cinema. Despite warnings from the crew, Koo insists on filming at the cinema, where a series of paranormal incidents occur, including a mysterious death and a disappearance. As the premiere of the film approaches, Koo's father leads his army to the cinema to rescue his son, only to encounter a mysterious man and uncover a web of deceit and conspiracy.
