Ayoub, a mid-teen, lives with his mother and half-sister in Amsterdam's projects. He's protective of his sister and doesn't want to follow in his father's or mother's footsteps. Ayoub spends his time with friends, getting into mischief, and notices girls for the first time, particularly Laura, who's in a relationship with a local thug. Ayoub tries to impress Laura by becoming a tough guy, taking on odd jobs for a local criminal to transform his image.
