Seven Years in Tibet background

Seven Years in Tibet

A mountaineer prisoner of war takes a perilous journey to freedom, forging an unexpected bond with the 14th Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader, along the way.

In 1939, Nazi officer Heinrich Harrer abandons his country to climb Nanga Parbat in British India, but bad weather and injury force him to pause. Arrested and taken to a POW camp after WWII breaks out, he repeatedly attempts to escape, finally succeeding and making his way to Lhasa, where foreigners are forbidden.
