Sex Madness background

Sex Madness

A documentary-style film provides educational guidance to young adults on appropriate sexual and drug use norms.

Philanthropist Paul Lorenz is a prominent figure in the fight against social diseases like syphilis and gonorrhea. He is concerned about behaviors that promote casual sex, such as attending burlesque shows. These shows often attract people with promiscuous intentions, including young couples, office colleagues, and even Paul's own son Tom, who is planning a group-sex party after the show. The showgirls, including Sheila Wayne who has syphilis, also engage in casual sex. Another showgirl, Millicent Hamilton, was once a small-town girl who won a beauty contest and moved to New York. However, she contracted syphilis after a sexual encounter and is now deciding whether to follow Dr. Hampton's advice to undergo slow and intensive therapy to fully recover, or to seek a quick and expensive cure to marry her beau, Wendel, sooner.
