In a dystopian Venice, California, a grim reality unfolds as Jews are subjected to brutal persecution and relentless pursuit, evoking chilling parallels with the dark era of 13th century Europe.

In this dark adaptation of "The Merchant of Venice", Jews are hunted on the streets of postmodern Venice, California, like in 13th century Europe. The film opens with a Jewish girl being raped and a young man in a yarmulke being beaten. Shylock, a money lender, is spat upon and threatened. In this atmosphere of lawless anti-Semitism, Bassanio borrows from his lover Antonio, who has anti-Semitic views.
