A young runaway named Nick joins a circus and quickly becomes part of the sideshow, showcasing his puppeteering skills. He befriends the other performers, including a midget couple, a sword swallower, and a tattooed lady, but ignores the rule separating them from the big top acts. As Nick becomes closer to the lion tamer and falls for a main attraction, he uncovers darker secrets within the circus.
