A team of researchers, led by scientist Hashimoto, captures the energy of a child's spirit using his "Menger Sponge" invention in an old Taipei building. Detective Tung, a lip reader, joins the team to understand the ghost's lip movements. As they study the phenomenon, Tung uncovers the boy's tragic story: he was terminally ill, murdered by his mother, and buried near a nuclear plant. The boy's rage and grief are linked to the location, keeping his energy trapped. When the government halts the research, Hashimoto becomes unhinged and takes the spirit with him.
