A struggling burlesque actor, Mike Dawson, neglects his teenage son Tod due to his new relationship with June Cunningham. Meanwhile, Stephen Leigh, a school teacher, is worried about his wife's obsession with establishing her career before having children. Tod becomes a houseguest at Leigh's home when Mike goes on tour, and the two form a bond.
