Duke Berne, a three-time loser, attempts one final armored car heist to avoid a life sentence, but his attorney's wife, Lorna, tries to deter him. Despite her efforts, Duke is caught and sent to prison. He later escapes and reunites with Lorna, but their happiness is short-lived as his old friend George is forced to take the fall for a guard's murder if Duke stays with her.
